About Gator Nation Irrigation
The Irrigation Company a Water District Calls a Hero
30+ years of experience, owner-operated, and recognized by the St. Johns River Water Management District for protecting Florida's water, one system at a time.
The Story
Meet Billy Mayo
Billy Mayo has spent more than 30 years working on irrigation systems across North Central Florida, and he founded Gator Nation Irrigation to do the work the way he believes it should be done: show up on time, diagnose honestly, quote once, and leave the customer understanding their own system better than before.
That approach earned every review on our Google profile a 5-star rating. It also earned recognition from outside our customer base: the St. Johns River Water Management District named Billy an H2O Hero for Alachua County, highlighting nearly a decade of partnering with property owners and communities to improve irrigation efficiency through Alachua County's Irrigation Level-Up Rebate Program.
Our Approach
Water Conservation Isn't a Buzzword Here
Healthy landscapes don't need more water. They need water in the right places at the right times. That philosophy runs through everything we do, from separate zoning for turf and plant beds to smart controllers, rain sensors, and drip systems that put every gallon to work.
The results are practical, not abstract: greener lawns, lower water bills, and in the communities Billy has worked with, thousands of dollars in annual savings.

Who We Serve
Homes, HOAs, and Commercial Properties
We serve homeowners across Gainesville, Newberry, Archer, Trenton, and greater Alachua County, and we bring the same care to larger properties. HOAs and commercial sites are a major part of our work, where efficient design and proper maintenance translate directly into meaningful water and budget savings at scale.
Residential customers: your inspection is free. We'll evaluate your system, explain what we find in plain English, and give you a clear picture of what's worth fixing, what isn't, and why.
